History of Bread

A fire place of B.C.5700 for baking breads was excavated in Tschatal Huyuk, Turkey. Fire places of B.C.4800 were found in Bulgaria and Bohemia. A bread of B.C.3600 that was made by fermentation was found in Swiss. A bread that is 10.5cm dia,2.5cm thickness is in the custody of Yverdon Museum Swiss. This bread was made in B.C.900.
Hieroglyph has a letter that looks like a hook. This hook was used for taking out pieces of bread from fire place in ancient Egypt. This letter shows baker. Tens of types of bread are seen in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia around B.C.2000.
The oldest baker union was established in Rome around A.C.10. The rights and duties of a hundred of bakery were admitted around A.C.100 in Rome. In 5th century, 250 bakeries supplied the breads for 150 thousands Roman citizens. We can see a document regarding bakery in Alamans Law A.C.620 Swiss. A drawing of monastery Saint-Gul of A.C.820 shows three bakery places. In the Middle Age, the bakers union was organized in each city. They were under protection of the city load.
